SENAPATI: Apart from providing medical facilities to the sick and needy, BLATH Clinic, Rikhumai Taphou in Senapati organised a one-day Free health camp at Bakie (Yangkhunou) village in Senapati district, Manipur. It is worth mentioning that Bakie village is about 90 km away from the district headquarters.

The health camp was organised by the clinic with an aim to reach communities in remote and far-flung villages who have limited access to quality healthcare services.

Through this outreach programme, the clinic seeks to provide essential health check-ups, consultations, and basic medical support at the doorstep of villagers, to raise awareness about common health issues, preventive care, and the importance of early treatment to inform community members about the clinic’s services, facilities, and availability for continued care, to build a trusted connection between the clinic and the local populace, encouraging villagers to access medical services when needed and to ensure that no individual is denied care due to distance, lack of information, or limited resources.

In essence, the health camp serves as a step towards improving community well-being while helping villagers become aware of, and benefit from, the healthcare services offered by the Clinic.

Bakie village chairman Egohangbe Hau while addressing the media expressed gratitude to the BLATH Clinic for organising such free health camp for villagers of Yangkhullen areas by treating the sick, distributing free medicines as well as transporting the aged by their ambulance. The village chairman also mentioned that people of the area also expressed their gratitude to the BLATH Clinic, Rikhumai Taphou for the yeoman services rendered to the villagers while praying to let the clinic prosper in future.

Dr S Bogisg Reikhenamai MS (Surgery) and MD, BLATH Clinic stated that the free health camp was aimed to reach out to the far flung village where the clinic used to receive patients from the area. People of the area were stated to find difficulties in reaching out to other emergency medical services in the far flung areas that made them reach out to them to make them know that healthcare is still accessible to them through the service of free health camps for the areas.

Having attended around 100 patients during the camp, the doctor mentioned that the majority of them were found within higher BP readings although no symptoms have been found, including a young man of about 28 years who falls under higher BP readings with 180/120. To this, the doctor stated that the result is attributed to high salt consumption in their diet where local people usually go and work hard. At the end of the day, the majority of them stated that without the taste of the salt, they are not able to eat their food. The medical team consulted them to reduce salt intake and had distributed free medicines as per their complaints received. The doctor is hopeful that the health camp benefited the local residents and give them good health as they go about their own duties in the coming year.

Around 100 patients benefited in the free health camp on Saturday.
