Senapati, July 15: While random frisking and checking was conducted at T. Khullen Naka checkpoint in Tuesday (July 15) by the Special Operation Team of Senapati Police Station along with D-78 CRPF under the supervision of OC, Senapati Police Station, Insp. Nehgoulien Kipgen and under the overall supervision of SP/Senapati Dist., SM Zaib Zakir, IPS, at around 01:00 PM, one i20 car bearing Regn. No. MN-03-P-8268 was seen coming from Imphal side towards Senapati. The said vehicle was stopped for frisking and checking. On enquiry, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Makakmayum Firdosh Sharif (26) s/o MK Abdul Helim of Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai, Tulihal, Imphal East.

O,n checking the vehicle, suspected drug-like substance wrapped in black polythene bags were seen concealed under the bonnet of the vehicle. As such, DC Kangpokpi was intimated and a request was made to depute one Magistrate. Accordingly, SDC/HQ Kangpokpi, Lhunkhopao Touthang was deputed for doing the necessary procedures.
On arrival of the Executive Magistrate and in his presence and in the presence of the said driver, the drug-like substance wrapped in three black polythene bags were taken out from the bonnet. On opening the three bags, 50 (fifty) small packets each were found in each bag. On opening all the small packets, altogether 29,974 (Twenty-nine thousand, nine hundred and seventy four) WY Tablets (amphetamine) were found. Weighing of the seized items was done in presence of the Magistrate and witnesses and found to weighed 3.172 Kgs. including the weight of the plastic packets.

Hence, WY Tablets as well as the car used for transporting the drugs were seized in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and witnesses and the carrier arrested by observing formalities. A case has been registered under relevant sections at Senapati Police Station for further investigation.
