Senapati Sporting Club lifts championship title at 9th Kohima Volleyball Championship, 2022

Senapati, 13 Nov: Senapati Sporting Club, the visiting team from Manipur clinched the championship title in a closely fought final match against Sodinie Club, Kidima at the recently concluded 9th Kohima Volleyball Championship.

In a tightly contested final match, Senapati Sporting Club defeated Kidima team to lift the women’s category by 3-2 sets.

Kidima team won the first two sets but, Senapati team advanced after a change in tactic and timely substitution, which turned in favour of the visiting Senapati team to win a continuous 3 sets to take home the championship title.

The 9th Kohima Volleyball Championship began from November 9 and concluded on November 12, Saturday.

The Championship was organised by the Kohima Volleyball Association. This is the first time Senapati Sporting Club participated at the championship.

Altogether, 15 teams from different states and districts of Nagaland participated at the championship including one team each from Manipur’s Senapati and Assam.

Senapati Sporting Club was led by Shyam Prou as the coach and Avoinii Tho as the team manager. At the end of the championship, Beveinai (Phaibung Khunou) of the Senapati Sporting Club was also awarded the Women Player of the tournament.
