SJHS Chandel Celebrates Children’s Day; Interacts with Olympian and Padma Shri N. Kunjarani

CHANDEL, NOV 14: Perhaps, in a first of its kind in the district, St. Joseph’s High School, Chandel on Friday held an interactive session with Olympian and Padma Shri N. Kunjarani Devi as part of the school’s 27th Children’s Day and Parents’ Day celebration. The celebration was held at the school’s premises in Chandel district.

Addressing the event as chief guest, Padma Shri N. Kunjarani Devi appreciated all those involved in the celebration of the day. She emphasized on the role of parents and teachers in the formation of children and their future.

‘Today, if I have been awarded a Padma Shri, it is because of the role my parents played in life,’ the Olympian said. However, if I had not put in hard work , if I had no interest, it would not have been possible. So, children must put in hard work and dedication. Only then, the results will follow, she added.

Following her speech, the Padma Shri awardee also had a productive interaction with the students and parents. Replying to queries about her profession and others, the Arjuna Awardee said if an individual was not dedicated and hard working, one would not get the desired results.

She also said that one should be disciplined to maintain good health of mind and body to succeed in life.

Welcoming the guests and parents, Th. Joseph, Principal of the school, informed that the school was established in 1998 and eventually fully recognised by the government in 2013. He also highlighted that the school has been performing excellently in the HSLC exams over the years.

A variety of activities and performances from the students, parents and teachers turned the event into a vibrant celebration. A Taekwondo performance was also exhibited as part of the celebration.

Prizes for the annual sports day and literary competition were also distributed.

As part of the celebration, a Science Exhibition was also held wherein the parents and guests were enlightened about the world of science by the students.

Besides celebrating children’s day, the day was also celebrated as a day to thank parents for their support towards their children and the institute.

In his vote of thanks, Th. Alfred Monsang, Headmaster of the school expressed his gratitude and thanked all those involved to make the event a success.
