Imphal: Students of Manipur Technical University (MTU), Imphal, protested today against alleged irregularities on the part of the authorities of the university in conducting examinations.

The students stormed the administration block of the university at its campus at Takyelkhongbal in Imphal West district while demanding a fair examination.

The students declared that they would not appear in the upcoming examinations if their demand, conducting a fair examination, is not fulfilled by the authorities.

The agitating students said that they would not accept conducting the same exam in different modes while alleging the authorities of conducting the exam in offline as well as online modes.

Talking to reporters, the students alleged that the university authorities are arranging online mode examinations for a certain section of students while the same exam is conducted in offline mode for the rest of the students.

The students said that they had no objection to conducting the exam in online or offline modes. But, the exam must be conducted equitably.

They said that students from all communities were receiving the brunt of the ongoing crisis and the authorities must treat them equally.

The students further alleged unfairness in the conduct of the examinations while claiming that students attending physical classes regularly are getting low marks in the internet assessment while those students who are said to be attending classes in online mode were awarded higher marks.

The protest will continue until the demand for conducting the exam equitably is not considered by the authorities of the university and they will not appear in the upcoming exams if the authorities fail to consider their demand.
