Suspected Kuki Militants Ambush Combined Security Team in Jiribam District; 1 CRPF jawan killed

Jiribam: Unknown armed individuals, suspected to be Kuki militants, reportedly ambushed a combined team of 20 Battalion CRPF and Jiribam District Police today around 9:40 AM, leaving at least one CRPF jawan killed and another Manipur police injured.

According to police reports, the combined security team was approaching Morbung Village under Jiribam District Police Station to conduct a search operation related to the firing incident that occurred on July 13.

Of the one CRPF jawan and one sub-inspector (SI) from Jiribam Police Station who sustained injuries, the CRPF jawan, a 43-year-old Ajay Kumar Jha succumbed to his head bullet injury.

As per Police, SI Romendro suffered bullet wounds to his right knee and left hand middle finger. He has been admitted to the 50-bed hospital in Jiribam.

Another reliable source reports that two commandos from Jiribam Police Station also sustained injuries. This is a developing story, and further details are awaited.
