Senapati, Dec 9: On attaining the 25th year of its existence, the Taphou Area Youth and Students Organization (TAYSO) celebrates it Silver Jubilee at Taphou Naga village under the theme, “Unity in Diversity.” The inaugural function was graced by N. Kayisii, MLA, 49-Tadubi AC as the chief guest. TAYSO is also known as unique co-existence of different communities under one single organization in promoting peace, unity and love indifferent of caste and creed.

In his welcome note, Caleb L., Convenor, COC of the jubilee while giving his highest respect to the founding members of the body called the year 2022 as historic as it marks the 25th anniversary of TAYSO. Formed in the year 1996, he stated that a milestone celebration marked the highest point of maturity accomplishment and its achievements. All along the journey of TAYSO, their understanding and concern for each other and cooperation and solidarity with each other have stated to have stood forming the core value of their togetherness. While the youth and student body has made significant progress, the convenor hopes to move collectively to do more and better even in future. 25 years ago, the former founding members felt the need to unite the youth and student communities of Taphou area with a common vision to march forward for progress and priority. The COC convenor also acknowledged the commitment and contributions of the past leaders who have brought the body this far. The youth and student body (TAYSO) is stated to strengthen the fraternal bonding between different communities and promote peace and development in the area.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA N. Kayisii wondered how 18 villages of different tribes and tongues of Taphou area could come together and dwell in unity. The MLA said he heard of TAYSO in 2017 and is glad to learn that the body has been moving forward progressively. He said that youth and students should possess discipline in their lives, trustworthy and should love one another.

The chief guest asserted that the youth are similar to morning sunlight while the mid day sunlight to adults. While the youth and student body has progressed this far, the MLA urged all to promote peace and love for one another to make the world a better place to live in. The MLA also lauded that Taphou area for absence of quarrel, no land dispute between any of them but has been dwelling peacefully although such unwanted things do exist in other places. The rest of the other places should also learn the good nature of the area for peaceful co-existence and make the district a peaceful one in future, he said.
Theme song entitled, “Unity in Diversity” was presented by representatives of different tribes of the area which was composed by P. Karaiba. Translated into Maram, Kuki, Liangmai, Mao, Poumai, Thangal, Rongmei and Gorkhali, the song read as “Praise God for bringing the 18 villages together, irrespective of caste and creed, people of the area celebrate Jubilee with songs and dances.”

Flag of the silver jubilee was hoisted by Robert T. Maram, the first founding President of TAYSO.
Special songs, choreography and cultural dance from different villages of the area marked the celebration. The evening session of the jubilee would follow with “Voice Hunt.”
