Timely intervention by Police saves couples’ lives in Imphal

Two individuals identified as Irengbam Gitaranjan (50) and Irengbam ongbi Manihanbi (45) who meet with an accident, trapped under a truck in Wahengbam Leikai were rescued and saved by Imphal West District Police on Sunday morning.

The couple were coming from Uripok on a Honda Activa when an a Tata Dipper earth laden lost control and fell on the road side crashing into a shop along with the couple at Wahengbam Lairembi.

Imphal West Police team led by SP Dr S Ibomcha immediately rushed to the spot and initiated the rescue work along with the area locals and took the injured to RIMS hospital. A crane and an excavator were used to rescue the couple.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to Facebook and promised a prize for the Imphal West District Police team for their timely action and said, “Well done Imphal West Police team; The team will be rewarded for their swift action to save lives.”
