Two arrested in Mizoram for possession of drugs

Mizoram police arrested two persons on Sunday evening for possession of drugs worth Rs 8.55 lakh. The quantity of the drugs (heroin) was said to be 260 grams.

According to the police, the two persons, identified as J Rothangliana, (29), and Lalnunpuia, (30), both from Hnahthial Venglai, were arrested from Hnahthial district. The police also said a bike used by the two persons has also been seized.

According to the police, the incident happened when a police team led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bijoy Gurung launched a joint operation with volunteers of Young Mizo Association (YMA) in an area between Hnahthial and Tarpo village.

The police then said Rothangliana and Lalnunpuia have been booked under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act, 1985.
