Two Indian Coast Guard officers from Manipur have been promoted to full Commandant rank (Section Grade) in their first year of reaching eligibility years of fifteen years in the service. It is reported that the two officers are presently holding key appointments as Staff Officer to important Flag Officers on ICG. On promotion to full Commandant, the officers will be appointed in different capital ships as Executive Officers.
The two promoted officers are:
Commandant (JG) S Kholing Lawrence son of Late S Somi is from Kasom Khullen Village, Kamjong.
Commandant (JG) Ngamlien Touthang, son of Lunkholet Touthang hails from Molkon Village, Saikul, Kangpokpi District.
According to news report, Commandant S Kholing Lawrence, joined Indian Navy as Short Service Commission Officer in 2006. The officer was in Submarine Arm of Indian Navy, specialized in Signal Communication and Electronic Warfare. Post completion of his engagement in Indian Navy, he was absorbed in Indian Coast Guard in 2018 in the rank of Commandant (Junior Grade). The officer is a qualified Dynamic Positioning operator and has served onboard Pollution Control Vessel ICGS Samudra Prahari. He is married to Mrs Rinchuila Horam and the couple is blessed with a boy and a girl.
The news report added that, Commandant Ngamlien Touthang joined Indian Coast Guard as Assistant Commandant (Direct Entry) in 2006. The officer is recipient of Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry), ABP News Bravery Award, DGICG Commendation for his outstanding performance in various appointments in the past. He was also recipient of DGICG Trophy for best under trainee Assistant Commandant during his training days. He is married to Mrs Boinu Hoineithem and the couple is blessed with three boys.
