Self-styled rebel of RPF/PLA nabbed

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested a self-styled second lieutenant of the rebel group, RPF/PLA, Burmese language translator of the outfit on Friday, according to police.

The arrested officer was identified as Ibomcha Singh @ Jeet (44) of Bishnupur district.

A combined team of state police commandos and a column of 16 Assam Rifles apprehended the cadre from a bus waiting shed at Kondompokpi Lamkhai today, around 12:30pm, the police said.

Based on specific information, the combined teams rushed to the area and detained one person. During spot verification, he turned out to be an officer of RPF/PLA presently holding the rank of second lieutenant with allotted Army No. 1032, the police added.

He was working as a Burmese language translator. He was later handed over to Nambol police station for taking further necessary action, the police further added.
