Two residents declared containment zone in Ukhrul District

District surveillance officer in Ukhrul district on Sunday following persons tested Covid-19 positive, in view of the impending threat in the area, District Magistrate had declared immediate containment measures in the area to prevent further spread of the disease.

It had ordered for immediate sealing of the house/ compound, barred entry and exit of the population from the containment area, and had asked to initiate active surveillance of Covid – 19 cases.

The areas where immediate containment measures have been clamped down are:

Resident of Vanmi Keishing W/o S Somi, Kamphasom tang, Ukhrul.

Resident of Lois AC W/o Honrei AC, Ringui village, Ukhrul.

Any person, institution and organisation found violating any of these measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the orders issued by Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS further stated.

Manipur reported 12 death cases in the past 24 hours of Saturday which were recorded as COVID-19 related fatalities, out of which Ukhrul reported one death case.

The update report showed that of the 2,824 samples tested in the past 24 hours (ended at 5pm of May 8) 440 persons (212 males and 228 females) from the general population and two personnel from Central security forces were tested positive for the disease. Ukhrul district reported 13 positive cases.
