NNN | IMPHAL, July 19: With the detection of 20 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Manipur, the tally of the cases of COVID-19 in the State rose to 1911 on Sunday. Of them, 676 are active cases as the number of recovered cases increased to 1235 with the discharge of 53 persons on Sunday, COVID-19 Common Control Room said in a press release.
The recovery rate also increased to 64.62 percent in the State.
Of the 20 new cases, nine of them are from Imphal West district, three from Tamenglong, two each from Imphal east, Thoubal and Senapati and one each from Ukhrul, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts.
Except the ones from Thoubal and Imphal East districts – all the new cases are returnees from other States..
Official sources said that two persons have no recent travel histories. Health authorities have started an investigation to trace their contacts and the source of infections.
The person from Imphal East district was confirmed positive for the virus during a test conducted by a mobile medical team while the other one from Thoubal district was tested positive for the disease during rapid antigen testing being underway in Thoubal district.
