UDP Leader Paul Lyngdoh: Lok Sabha Candidates to be Finalized within a Month

Shillong: UDP leader and cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh on Friday said the process of identifying Lok Sabha candidates would be completed within a month’s time.  

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “As far as the UDP is concerned, we have already gone ahead with the process of identifying our candidates and the process should be through in the next month or even less than that.”

He said that former Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) president Robertjune Kharjahrin is one of the individuals who have expressed interest in contesting from the Shillong parliamentary seat.

“As we speak there are 3-4 contenders (for the ticket) and I think it should be ready by a couple of weeks from today,” he added.

He said preparation for the MDC elections is going on in full swing. The state election committee has already met a couple of times. “We should be in a position to at least have a preliminary list of candidates ready by January end.”
