Joining the rest of Tangkhul community members residing in different parts of the world, Tangkhul Inter-denomination Leaders Forum (TILF) Thursday observed ‘Tangkhul Global Prayer Day’ at TNL hall, praying for peaceful settlement of the vexed Naga political issue.
The programme was organised under the aegis of Council Of Nagalim Churches (CNC) and was participated by church leaders and civil society organisation representatives of Tangkhul region.
Similar fasting programmes were also observed in private by Tangkhuls residing in different parts of the world all the churches in their villages without public gathering.
Talking to media persons at TNL precinct after the event, Rev Remember Rimai, convenor of TILF, said that the day was observed by the Tangkhul community at global level concurrently.
“The rationale for observance of this special day is to submit to the will of God so that He would grant us a peaceful conclusion of the 70 years long Nagas’ political movement,” he said
He said that the pending solution that the Nagas are awaiting would help strengthen the relations between Nagas and their neighbours, irrespective of communities and religions so they could live in peace and harmony with one another.
“The Church and the Naga public have been praying for a peaceful solution for the last many years. The solution would not be just for the Nagas but would be for all the neighbouring communities of the Nagas,” Rev Rimai exuded.
The prayer event which was observed in accordance with the SOP, acknowledged the divine guidance to the Nagas through their political struggles for years now, while seeking divine wisdom for the Naga leadership and the Indian government who are currently engaged in peace talks since 2017, to work out a peaceful and acceptable settlement.
Along with holding a submissive prayer to the Almighty, the event also sought blessings for sustenance of cordial relations with the neighbours.
TNL president Hopingson Shimray, WTR CAO Canan Kasar and church leaders from different denominations and representaives of CSOs attended the event.
