UKHRUL, NOV 23: More than a thousand young people in Ukhrul town came together for a spirited and uplifting gospel concert titled Exuberant Praise, organised by the Tangkhul Gospel Music Ministries (TGMM) on Friday evening at Union Baptist Church, Phungreitang, Ukhrul.

TGMM President Lakshang R. Shimray welcomed the gathering and outlined the purpose of the event. “The main aim of Exuberant Praise is to provide a platform for the younger generation who are eager to serve God using their skills and talents. Youths from 13 churches are involved in this event with one goal — to serve and praise God in unity,” he said.
The concert featured praise and worship sessions led by the TGMM and Zech worship teams. Fifteen youth talent groups from across the town took the stage, alongside individual performers and Christian music groups, including Jesus Heart. The performances ranged from contemporary worship songs and folk music to choreography.
An exhortation was delivered by Barnabas Kashung, Professor at GITS, who encouraged the youth to worship wholeheartedly. “If you believe that God is Almighty, I urge the youth and everyone present to praise and worship Him with joyous and loud voices,” he said.
Kalangarin Ragui, Youth Director of Hunphun Baptist Church and member of the TGMM organising committee, shared the ministry’s vision. “Our aim is to reach as many people as possible, especially young gospel singers. We want to uplift them, provide a platform, and introduce their talents to the community,” he said.

He further emphasised the message behind the event: “We want to show young people that we can be joyful and enjoy life through praising God in various forms — not only through singing, but also through dancing, choreography, and other expressions of talent. Many think the Christian life is boring, but that is wrong. Christians are the happiest people when we understand the meaning of life, the gifts we are given, and when we use those talents to serve God.”
At a time of widespread uncertainty in the state, Exuberant Praise served as a beacon of hope, lifting the spirits of young people and strengthening faith within the community.
TGMM first launched the gospel concert in 2016. Although held intermittently over the years, the event made a much-welcomed return this year.
