UKHRUL: Khanuithot – Khon has served an ultimatum to the residents of Shangkai Kuki village in Ukhrul district, Manipur to immediately vacate the village amid ongoing tensions between the Tangkhul and Kuki communities.
“Your repeated atrocities towards the civilians have proven that you have mistaken our pursuit of peace for weakness and our hospitality for entitlement,” Khanuithot – Khon stated while reminding the Kuki community that they are residing in the village at the sole discretion and mercy of the landowners.
It also reminded the Kukis that they are “guests” on Tangkhul ancestral land, and that status is a privilege, not a right.
“And you have severed this right beyond reconsideration… While the Tangkhul community has made every effort to foster a harmonious environment, your village (residents of Shangkai) has consistently chosen violence and provocation, even to the extent of kidnapping and keeping hostage of 21 innocent Naga civilians,” it stated.

Asking the villagers to vacate the allocated land (Shangkai village) immediately, Khanuithot – Khon said it will never accommodate unlawful and barbarous tenants in their sacred land.
It further warned that should the villagers fail to comply with the ultimatum, it would be forced to take all necessary measures to ensure their immediate removal from the Naga territory.
“Whatever consequences may follow, may solely rest on the individual or group that does not comply with this order notification,” it added.
