Senapati: The 3rd edition of the Lt Col Robert Cup, a testament to the enduring legacy of Lt Col Robert and his commitment to community and excellence, concluded with jaw dropping and thrilling finale on 17 February 2024.
Organized by Maram Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector under aegis of IGAR East, the tournament brought together football enthusiasts from pan Manipur to celebrate the the spirit of sportsmanship and honour the memory of a true leader.

Lt Col Robert, a revered figure from Maram Tribe was born on 24 January 1981 at Maram Centre Village of Senapati district, Manipur. His journey from a humble beginnings to becoming the first officer from the Maram tribe to attain the rank of Lt Col in the Indian Army continues to inspire everyone. Throughout his life, Lt Col Robert exemplified the values of hard work, dedication, and service leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The Lt Col Robert Cup commenced with the league stage on 4th February 2024 and was held at various grounds across Senapati District, including Astroturf Senapati Football ground, Karong Football ground, T/Khullen Football ground, ASUFII Football ground and Oklong Football ground.

The league stages were marked by spirited competition and enthusiastic support from spectators highlighting the growing popularity of football in the region.
After highly competitive and intense quarterfinals and semifinals, the stage was set for much awaited final match between United Brothers FC and Taphou FC. In a display of great skill and determination, both teams fought valiantly, resulting in a tied score of 1-1 at the end of full time and 2-2 after extra time.
The decisive moment came during the penalty shootout, where United Brothers FC emerged victorious with a score of 4-3, securing the championship title.

Individual excellence was also recognized during the tournament, with Hriivei Carlos Pao of Taphou FC awarded the title of Best Player, Chanso Horam of United Brothers FC named Best Scorer and Lalboi Haokip of Taphou FC honored as Best Goalkeeper.
The final match, graced by the presence of the Honourable Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, was a fitting tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship & unity, that Lt Col Robert embodied throughout his life.
As the curtains draw on another hugely successful edition of the Lt Col Robert Cup, organizers extended their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors and spectators for their unwavering support and enthusiasm. The tournament’s success underscores the power of sports to unite communities and inspire greatness.

Earlier before the start of the final match, Inspector General of Assam Rifles East distributed cash prizes of Rs 10,000/- each to all participating teams even who could not make it to the quarter finals, quarter finalists with Rs. 20,000/- each, Rs. 40,000/- each to semi-finalists.
Champion team get away with a cash award of Rs. 3 lakhs and runners up with Rs 1.5 lakhs respectively.
