Ukhrul, April 23: The construction of National Highway 202, Package No. 2, from Jessami to Akash Bridge, a distance of 14.72 km, has been completed successfully in the given stipulated time.
Asset Wezah, Secretary of Jessami Village Council, stated that, “National Highway 202, Package No. 2 has been completed by HVS Construction Materials Private Limited, Patsoi, Imphal. In terms of size and quality, the villages are quite satisfied with the progress and accomplishments of this National Highway 202, Package No. 2, which starts from Jessami to Akash Bridge.”
National Highway 202 links Imphal to Makokchung and runs for a distance of 460 km. The jurisdiction of Manipur ends at Akash Bridge. From Akash Bridge towards Mokokchung falls under the jurisdiction of Nagaland.

Shivam Gaur, Site Engineer of NHIDCL, stated, “The total length of this project is 14.72 kilometres and has been completed within the time frame of 24 months. The starting date of the project is 25 February 2023, and the ending date is 19 February 2025.”
The newly-constructed double-lane highway will connect Jessami with Meluri in Nagaland at a distance of 32 km and Kiphire at 117 km.
To test the quality of the road, bitumen test, compaction test, and other required tests as per the specifications by the concerned authority were carried out by a third-party informed officers from NHIDCL to the visiting media team from the Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) on Tuesday. During their visit, the journalists discovered that while the stretch from Ukhrul to Jessami was still under construction, the segment from Jessami headquarters to Akash Bridge had been completed.
