Ukhrul, May 31: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ukhrul (ATARI Zone VII), under the ICAR Manipur Centre, has launched its nationwide Pre-Kharif Campaign, Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, across several interior pockets of the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, following its inauguration by the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, in Puri, Odisha, on May 29, 2025.
This initiative aims to enhance agricultural development and increase farmer income within these districts by disseminating information regarding modern agricultural technologies and practices. Dr. Soibam Khogen Singh, District Nodal Officer and Head of the KVK, Ukhrul, has reported positive progress of the campaign across the two districts, emphasizing that farmers are being informed about various initiatives and technologies available in the region. The campaign team, including scientists, Subject Matter Specialists, and line department officials, is distributing technology leaflets, posters, soil health cards, and pond health cards, while also conducting interactive programs to highlight state and central government schemes.

Since the start of the campaign, the teams led by Dr. Solei Luiram, Dr. P.A. Ramsem, and Dr. Surjyakanta Roy have engaged with over 2,000 farmers, collecting farmer innovations and local farming issues to facilitate scientific interventions under the challenging terrains and harsh weather conditions in the district.
The teams have so far visited 27 villages, which include Awonthang, Alungtang, Kazipphung, Mayotang, Sashaitang, Ngashantang, Zingshotang, Khaivatang, and Hamlung Mayotang on the first day, covering 665 farmers; Shirui Chingthak, Lunghar, Kalhang, Shirui Chingkha, Nungbi Khulle, Loree Kajui, Langdang, Nungbi Khunou, and Joyland on the second day, covering 539 farmers; and Kuirei, Luireishmphung, Chingjaroi Khullen, Marem, Jessami, Ngahui, Razai Khunou, Maremphung, and Namrei on the third day, covering 803 farmers. The teams are receiving due support from local authorities during the campaign.
