Winter Mela in Chandel till Dec 23

CHANDEL: A fortnight‑long Winter Mela aimed at easing shoppers’ woes this festive season kicked off on Wednesday at Old Market, Japhou Bazaar. Organised by the Japhou Bazaar Youth Club (JBYC), the event carries the cheerful theme “Bringing Fun and the Spirit of Winter.”

The launching event was graced by SDO/BDO Chandel, Anunay Anand (IAS), as Chief Guest; Dr. N. Munal Meitei, DFO Chandel, as Guest of Honour; and JS Angam, Chairman of the Maha Area Chief Association (MACA), as Functional President.

Running from December 10 to 23, the mela will feature a colourful array of stalls – from steaming food and cozy clothing to festive games and decorative goodies – all designed to meet the needs of holiday shoppers.

Speaking at the ceremony, the dignitaries praised the JBYC team for organising such event and urged the public to soak in the fun, keep the atmosphere joyful, and spread love and harmony throughout the season.

The Winter Mela will be open daily during 10th to 23rd December from 12 pm to 10 pm, promising a warm, bustling celebration for all.
