Imphal: The World Meetei Council (WMC) has issued a statement expressing contentment over the recent Judgment of the Manipur High Court on the question of genuineness and legitimacy of the claim of the Meetei people to include them in the list of Scheduled Tribes of the Indian Constitution.

Must read:

WMC in a press release issued on Thursday stated that organizations representing indigenous Naga people have joined hands with the immigrant Kuki-Chin people. This is historic, it exclaimed.

While the reason for the Naga indigenous people joining hands with the immigrant communities [Kuki-Chin] as per the statement, is believed to be the fear of the Meetei people grabbing their lands, job quotas, and reservations in institutions, the World Meetei Council clarified that it has a different take on the matter – “We do not equate the indigenous Naga people with the immigrant communities,” it emphasized.

Asserting that the ‘intimidating nature’ of the formidable alliance putting pressure on the state government to undo what the Hon’ble Court had done, WMC maintained that nothing can be sorted out by putting pressure on an issue where the question of “survival” of the Meetei people is involved.

In this regard, the World Meetei Council has called for all parties to come to the table and resolve their issues in a logical manner for logical conclusion to the matter. “Let the Manipur government discharge its duty without fear or favor,” it added.

Even, the word saying Indigenous to Naga and Immigrant to Kuki-Chin Mizo shows how cunning is the Meetei World Council in playing a dirty and communal politics. Yes, Naga and not foolish, rhey are the most advance politics in Manipur and every one is aware of Meetei people planning to grab tribal land in the name of forest reserve and grabbing all the tribal quota in Manipur. What a shame.

What an uneducated mindset tribal communities inherited since time immemorial. First of all the Imphal Valley majority of the people lies in the Meitei community and all the Manipur GDP is provided through the Meitei community, taxation allows the development of infrastructure and many more where tribal people get it for free without knowing where the capital are come from.

So advanced Nagas begging for reservation in Manipur university and RIMS. If u r so advanced, lets not have quota system in Manipur. You will see your community will have 1 govt employee in the entire India. You bought the lands of Meitei and settle while Meiteis can not buy land in your area. If you are a bit educated , you would die in shame. but hey you are shameless. So go ahead and cry for Meitei demanding ST status.

Don’t let it happen for meiteis, if so everything will upside down for other whole rest of the tribes. The meiteis are lies under general category, bcoz they live and think themselves as “standard” or “Superior” then other communities in Manipur. So how can they be able to be the tribles, it’s impossible. They wanted to grab high cut off and high posts of job in Manipur.

      Dear Brother/Sister Indigenous
With due respect all the high profile police officers, Bureaucrats and respected departmental heads are all tribals people and how can u say Manipur is controlled by the Meitei/Meetei. and FYI regarding about the politics and the number of political leaders distribution, first study the Geographical diagram of Manipur then comment.
And btw not the world but the Indian Constitution must and should provide ST status to safeguard our community.
      What’s ur problem in that???
U have ur own quota, we’re demanding for ours.
All citizens of the state or country must have all equal rights (Article 14: Right to Equality) irrespective of their religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
We Meitei/Meetei community are demanding to have equal rights as same as or fellow brothers and sisters of Naga/Kuki community
      Shame on u!!!

Hope the ST implementation is approved by Supreme Court ASAP before it gets unturn the value of the Meitei community. All the development in Manipur is only contributed by Meitei ethnicity where taxation from every category of Meitei OBC, SC or Gen etc. Any tribal community wants to take all the benefits without knowing how much we did for them, such a disgrace to fellow ST people. If they truly want a co-existence friendly environment as brother/sister they should accept the fact that all the infrastructure and development are brought by Meitei’s capital and always remember all the resources we have given to each tribal community should never be forgotten

U still think meiteis are the owner. U still think manipur tribals r dependent on meiteis for. We already know how meiteis are doing. We think other wise that manipur tribals would be much more developed without the meiteis. Meiteeis shout manipur integrity and they wants to rules the tribals. Ur mentality is not going to solve enything. U r just sowing seeds for more hatred.
