1 killed in road mishap at Tamenglong

In a tragic accident, a night shift construction worker of Shivalaya Construction Company Pvt Ltd got killed when the truck he was driving fell into a deep gorge.

According to a reliable source, the incident happened near Namkaolong (Keikao) village, which is 28 km away from Tamenglong District HQ when a truck bearing regd no. MN01AA 2855 fell into a deep gorge which is over 300 feet away from the main road.

The deceased Dilip Nama, 29, son of Manik Nama of Tarakpur AWC Kurti, North Tripura, is a driver working in night shift along NH-137 (Khongsang-Tamenglong). The accident took place when he came back from Sangrungpang to carry stones from Barak River in Namkaolong village, the source said. Another vehicle from the same Construction Company also come along when the incident happened.

Namkaolong villagers took the driver immediately to Tamenglong District hospital, Duigailong, but he succumbed to his injuries. In this regard, Tamenglong Police has registered a case and the dead body has been taken to Imphal for post mortem.
