UKHRUL: On Tuesday (January 6), a joint team of the Special Operations Team (SOT) and the 78th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) seized over 11 kg of suspected opium during routine frisking and checking along National Highway-2 in Manipur’s Senapati district, officials said.
The interception took place around 4:30 pm at Nepali Khuti, where the security personnel stopped a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS-01-DS-9963. During a thorough search, suspected opium was found concealed inside the vehicle’s spare tyre, indicating an attempt to smuggle the contraband.
In the presence of an Executive Magistrate, the recovered substance was weighed and found to be 11.264 kg. The contraband, along with the vehicle and mobile phones recovered from the accused, was seized in accordance with legal procedures.

The accused was subsequently handed over to Senapati Police Station for further investigation and legal action under relevant provisions of the law. Officials said the seizure highlights the coordinated efforts of security forces to curb drug trafficking in the region.
