CHANDEL: The Charongching Baptist Church on Friday celebrated 60 years of its establishment with a Diamond Jubilee celebration at the Church premises attended by faithfuls, Reverends and well-wishers. It was celebrated under the theme, “Pilgrims of Hope”.

Situated in Chakpikarong Sub-Division under Chandel district, Chakpikarong Baptist Church was established in 1966.

The celebration began with the unveiling of the Jubilee monument by Reverend Dr. Sr. Onesima, president CBCNEI and ANBA, who also served as the administrator of the jubilee.

Sharing a brief history of the Church, Lic. Ht. Romesh, Pastor of Charongching Baptist Church informed that the church was established in 1966. He spoke on the hardships faced by the early leaders of the Church and how they stood strong and faithful to God. He said if the Church was celebrating 60 years of establishment, it was because of those leaders in the past.

He also thanked God for His faithfulness and leading the Church at all times.

As the administrator of the Church Jubilee, Reverend Dr. Sr. Onesima said that people should always place God first in their lives. It is all because of God that we are able to celebrate 60 years of this church, he said, and called on the gathering to thank God for the same.

The Reverend said that such celebrations are a symbol of God’s love and blessings. Therefore, we should remain faithful to God and serve Him at all times, he added.

Welcoming the faithfuls to the celebration, Rev. Pashel Phowlhring, Jubilee Chairman and Pastor of Nungpan Baptist Church expressed his gratitude to all and thanked them for being part of such a meaningful and joyous celebration.

A souvenir of the diamond jubilee celebration was also released by Rev. Kl. Tangthu, Executive Secretary, ANBA.
