CHANDEL/UKHRUL: The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) organised a mass rally in Chandel on Saturday, with 11 tribal groups from the district participating in support of demands raised by the United Naga Council (UNC) and in solidarity with the joint rally organised by COCOMI and various Naga organisations.

The rally began at Chandel Main Stadium, where participants raised five key demands, including an immediate end to the killing of civilians, abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups, an end to what they described as proxy wars by the Government of India, and effective implementation of the agreements reached during the September 26, 2026 Guwahati talks.

Speaking to reporters, CNPO president Dilbung Francis Thandok said the prevailing situation in Manipur was unacceptable and should not be allowed to continue.

He said the rally was organised to draw the attention of the government to the prevailing situation in the state and press for necessary steps to restore peace and normalcy.

Representatives and leaders of the 11 tribal groups, along with other community leaders, participated in the rally.
