112 Bn CRPF Organises Civic Action Program and Free Medical Camp at Ireng Naga and Geljang Villages, Manipur

Ukhrul, Jan 20: According to a press note issued by the 112 Bn CRPF, the Civic Action Program and Free Medical Camp were organised at Ireng Naga and Geljang villages in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, on January 20. The event was conducted under the aegis of Dr. Vipul Kumar, IPS, IG, CRPF M&N Sector, and the guidance of Manish Kumar Sachar, DIG (Ops) KPI, with overall supervision by Pramod Kumar Sahoo, Commandant, 112 Bn CRPF, with an aim to extend and create atmosphere of goodwill and positive relationship with the local people and address the needs of local villagers.

The program was attended by the Village Authority Secretary of Ireng Naga Shithonang, Chief of Olmun village James Lotjem, Chief of Lhangjol village Seithang Kipgen, Chief of K. Makhom Jangkam Lotjem and Principal of Manger English School L. Otsei Khongsai in the presence of Commandant 112 Bn and senior officers (CMO Dr. Umashankar Verma, Second-in-Command JP Singh & Dy. Comdt. Rajendra Prasad Raiger) as well as Officers Commanding of D-112 Amit Kumar (Asst. Commandant) and F-112 Insp Rajesh Kumar. About 200 villagers attended the program.


The release stated that the Village Chiefs of the area lauded the role of CRPF in defending the fringe areas and also for ensuring stability and safety in the area. They also highlighted the importance of fostering a stronger sense of relations between Central Forces and local communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant of 112 Bn, CRPF stated that the CRPF will always try to strengthen relations with local communities. He also expressed his gratitude to the village Chief/ Village Authority members and all villagers of Ireng Naga, Chiru-II, Geljang, Olmun, Lhangjol and K. Makhom for sparing their precious time for the successful conduct of the program. CO 112 Bn also reaffirmed CRPF’s commitments in serving the local communities.


According to the release, several items were distributed to the villagers as part of the Civic Action Program. These included sports equipment such as footballs and volleyballs with nets, solar lamps, school bags, and other essential goods. Additionally, a cultural dance performance by local youth added to the vibrancy of the event.

The release further notes that the local community expressed their appreciation for the CRPF’s ongoing efforts and hoped that similar initiatives would continue in the future. Many villagers praised the 112 Bn CRPF for organising such people-friendly programs, with a strong desire for continued collaboration between the local population and the CRPF.
