UKHRUL: In a possible case of mistaken identity or alleged internal feud within the National Socialist Council of Nagalim, four suspected Eastern Flank cadres of the group were killed by suspected NSCN-IM members at Hongbei village, under Kasom Khullen Block, Kamjong District, Manipur. The incident happened at around 9:20 PM on Saturday.

According to reliable sources, the victims were attacked as soon as they reached Hongbei village, along Imphal-Kasom Khullen road, while they were inside the vehicle. Out of the six occupants, two managed to escape while the other four were killed on the spot.
As per the sources, the victims are identified as Major Sochipem Phungshok from Marao village, Sergeant Major Zairei Vasah from Halang village, Corporal Bahnlei Ahlahpya from Kaishan Boklum, Eastern Nagaland, and Sergeant Thansomi Vashi from Mapao village.
However, the reason for the attack cannot be ascertained until the time of filing this report.

The Kasom Khullen Police has conducted a spot enquiry ON March 29, 2026 morning following the incident.
