12-year-old Matakhak selected for Football training under Chaoba Devi’s Supervision

Imphal: M Matakhak, a 12-year-old has been selected to undergo six months Regular Coaching under Department of Youth Affairs and Sports programme at Langjing Achouba Astroturf ground, Imphal.

The young aspiring female footballer is the daughter of M Rinsomi of Somdal village of Ukhrul district.

IGP I K Muivah speaking to Ukhrul Times said, “Young girls like her who are highly self-motivated in sports need to join such well organized coaching centres for their talents to grow”.

IGP Muivah also appreciated YAS Director Phulen Meitei for his active promotion of sports from all corners of the state. Matakhak will be training under the supervision of Northeast only AFC-A licenced coach Chaoba Devi.

Phulen Meitiei (MCS) was secretary of Tiddim Road Athletic Union’s (TRAU) football club before he was appointed as Director of Youth Affairs and Sports by the government of Manipur in October 2021.
