14 students from Northeast rescued from Kashmir Valley by CRPF

Ukhrul, May 12: Responding to a desperate SOS, the CRPF’s 84 Battalion safely evacuated 39 students from the Kashmir Valley late on May 10, including 14 from Northeast India as tensions escalated in the region.

According to the press release issued by the CRPF 84 Bn on May 11, the operation was triggered by a social media appeal made by Ksh Jabaskumar Singh, a student of SKUAST Sopore, Baramulla, Kashmir. Commandant N Ranbir Singh of 84 Bn CRPF swiftly intervened and, in close coordination with the University Administration, arranged the safe evacuation.

Among the evacuated students were 6 from Manipur, 4 from Assam, and 4 from Tripura, along with others from Bihar (09), Jharkhand (01), Jammu (01), Uttar Pradesh (01), West Bengal (04), Nagaland (03), Himachal Pradesh (01), Haryana (01), Delhi (01), and Orissa (06).

“The students, visibly distressed, were evacuated from Pampore and brought to Tac HQ 84 Bn Ramban in the evening of 10 May,” said Commandant N Ranbir Singh. “They were provided free accommodation, food, and essential logistics at 84 Bn CRPF Boom Ramban.”

After breakfast the next morning, on May 11, the students were transported safely to Jammu Railway Station for their onward journeys to their home states.

Expressing their gratitude, the students thanked Commandant N Ranbir Singh and his team for their compassion and timely action. “This humanitarian gesture not only ensured their safety but also reinforced the trust and bond between the force and the citizens it serves,” the CRPF said.

The CRPF reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to both operational excellence and humanitarian assistance. “Our role remains pivotal in maintaining security and demonstrating steadfast support for the welfare of citizens,” the force stated.

In another update from All Ladakh Students Welfare Association Jammu, on May 11, 2025, it along with the Nodal Officers evacuated over 482 students from Jammu, of which over 140 left via Ladakhi taxis.
