Pou Legend FC, Hills Academy FC Storm into Robert Cup 2026 Final

Senapati: Pou Legend FC and Hills Academy FC have secured their spots in the final of the 5th Edition (Late) Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Football Tournament, popularly known as the Robert Cup 2026. The much-anticipated final will be played on February 24 at the Senapati Astro Turf Ground.

In the first semi-final, Pou Legend FC delivered a commanding performance, defeating Senapati FC by 3-0 goals. The second semi-final witnessed a nail-biting contest as Hills Academy FC edged past Kuki Rising FC with a narrow 3-2 victory. Both matches were marked by intense competition and enthusiastic support from spectators.

The tournament, organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), has been underway since February 5. The event aims to showcase local football talent while fostering unity and sportsmanship within the community.

Speaking ahead of the first semi-final, Pou Legend FC captain Hriivi Carlos expressed gratitude to the organisers for successfully hosting the tournament and providing a valuable platform for local players. He stated that the team had been preparing diligently from the start and expressed confidence in lifting the trophy.

Senapati FC captain Mayosing Khongreiwoshi also conveyed appreciation for reaching the semi-finals. Acknowledging Pou Legend FC as one of the strongest teams in Senapati, he assured that his side would give their best performance.

Before the second semi-final, Kuki Rising FC captain Thangjalen Haokip thanked God for guiding his team to the last four and affirmed their readiness to face the challenge. Meanwhile, Hills Academy FC captain Mendy Junior, who hails from Ghana, West Africa, shared that he had been part of the team since the previous edition, when they emerged champions. He expressed optimism and faith in leading his team to another title.

As per the prize distribution, each of the four losing quarter-finalists will receive Rs. 15,000, while the two losing semi-finalists will be awarded Rs. 30,000 each. The champions will walk away with Rs. 3.5 lakh and a trophy, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 1.5 lakh along with a trophy.

With both teams in strong form, the final promises to be an electrifying clash as Pou Legend FC and Hills Academy FC battle for the coveted Robert Cup 2026 title.
