14th NEC Northeast Tamchon football Trophy 2020 cancelled

The 14th NEC annual Northeast Tamchon Football Tournament for 2020 has been cancelled owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisers made the official announcement over their Facebook handle wishing “good health to one and all”.

Northeast Tamchon trophy is an annual Northeast Community football tournament that encourages young footballers from Northeast India for exposure to various national and international football platform, as well as to bring solidarity among the people of Northeast living in Delhi through the much loved sports in the region.

Indian Air Force (IAF) team won the 13th edition of the football tournament in 2019 at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi. Union Minister for Youth affairs and Sports, Kirin Rijiju graced the final match as the chief guest.

According to Tamchon trophy information, more than 3000 football players have participated in the tournament since its inception in 2007. More than one hundred players who played in this tournament are now placed in the most elite national and regional football clubs of the country.

The football tournament is organzed by Tangkhul Naga Society in collaboration with North Eastern Council.
