16 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Meghalaya

Meghalaya recorded 16 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday besides 2 recoveries being recorded in the same period.

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the new cases include 11 from East Khasi Hills district comprising 4 armed forces and paramilitary personnel and 7 civilians, 3 from Ri Bhoi district and 2 from West Garo Hills district.

He said the two patients who recovered from the viral infection are from Ri Bhoi district.

So far, the state has detected a total of 14,122 Covid-19 cases out of which 102 are active cases, 13,870 have recovered and there have been 150 deaths.

East Khasi Hills has 69 active cases, West Garo Hills 25, Ri Bhoi 7 and West Khasi Hills 1.

On the other hand, of the 4,08,884 persons who have undergone Covid-19 testing in the state as on date, 3,94,762 were tested negative for the virus even as 44 persons are in institutional quarantine and 58 under home quarantine.

He also informed that till date, there have been 99,119 entrants into the state.
