18 new cases take Manipur’s COVID-19 infection tally to 28,787

Manipur reported no COVID-19 related death for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday, even as 18 new cases took the total caseload of the state to 28,787 on Thursday.

The recovery rate of the state also improved to 97.18% as 41 patients including two CAPF personnel were discharged today after they recovered from the viral infection.

Of the 28,787 total infections, 27,976 were recoveries. A total of 446 active cases are currently being treated at different Covid care centres across the state.

There was no report of death related to COVID-19 illness during the last 24 hours (till 5pm of January 14). The cumulative number of deaths remained at 365, COVID-19 Common Control Room said, in its daily update report.

Of the 18 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, six were from Imphal West, seven from Imphal East, three from Churachandpur and one each from Senapati and Tamenglong district.

The 41 patients discharged today included two from the CAPF and 32 on home isolation.
Meanwhile, 1,081 samples tested in the last 24 hours took the cumulative number of samples tested in the state to 4,94,623.

With the screening of 849 persons arriving in the state by air at Imphal airport today, a total of 5,37,803 people entering the state including state native were subjected to thermal screening for detection of COVID-19, as per the daily status report of the state health department.
