Manipur witnessed 20 death cases in the past 24 hours which were recorded as COVID-19 fatalities. The state also recorded 592 new cases of the disease in the same period to push the infection tally of the state to 36,370.
Adding the 195 recoveries, the recovered cases of the state also rose to 30,880. The number of active cases of the disease also rose to 4,981 on Tuesday. The recovery rate of the state stood at 84.90%.
The state Health department, in its daily update report stated that 20 persons who were infected with the viral disease succumbed in the past 24 hours. With eight deaths, Imphal East district shared the maximum number of daily fatalities even as four people died of the viral infection in Imphal West district. Three deaths were reported in Thoubal district, two in Kakching districts and one each in Churachandpur, Jiribam and Kamjong.
All the 592 fresh infections reported in the past 24 hours are all from the general population and among them 216 were from Imphal West and 176 in Imphal East district.
Thoubal district reported 37 while 32 in Bishnupur, 26 in Kakching, 27 in Ukhrul, 34 in Churachandpur, three in Chandel, nine in Senapati, 18 in Kangpokpi, seven in Tengnoupal, five in Jiribam and one each in Tamenglong and Kamjong district.
The state tested 3,442 samples in the past 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested so far in the state to 6,43,220.
Meanwhile, a total of 1045 D-type oxygen cylinders ad 383 B-type cylinders were made available to different hospitals across the state as the state health department is working at its best not to ensure adequate supply of medical oxygen in all health care centres across the state.
The number of people who were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state also reached 2,75,880, the Health department informed.
