21 fresh COVID cases in Manipur takes caseload to 29,561

COVID-19 cases in Manipur continues to surge with 21 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours. This update took the infection tally of the disease to 29,561.

The fatality tally remained at 376 with no report of death during the same period, the daily update report of the state Health department stated on Wednesday.

The 21 fresh cases were diagnosed while receiving results of 849 samples. The total number samples tested for COVID-19 in the state so far reached 5,89,389.

Ten of the fresh cases were from Imphal West district, four from Bishnupur, five from Churachandpur and one each from Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts.

During the past 24 hours, six patients were discharged upon recovery, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 29,052. The recovery rate dipped to 98.27 % against 98.32 % the previous day. 

The number of active cases rose to 133 against 118 on Tuesday, the report said.

The total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the state also rose to 98,781 as 1,815 more were vaccinated across the state on Tuesday. The recipients included 32,092 healthcare workers.
