25 Years of Tangkhul Leihsak Long Observed

Ukhrul: The Tangkhul Leihsak Long (Tangkhul Chambers of Trade and Commerce) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Wednesday at Town Hall, Ukhrul.

Minister Khashim Vashum, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Transport, Manipur and Ram Muivah, MLA 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency attended the celebration as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister Khashim Vashum stated that “coming from a business background, this very day is a very special moment and a landmark in my life too. My early days of business involves stationery, PCO, hardware, petrol and hotel. From the scratch, I have managed to come this far. I urge all the entrepreneurs especially the youngsters to work hard to achieve their goal. Today, we can see so many successful entrepreneurs from the Tangkhul community and it is indeed a joy to see our people flourishing. If we really love our people, we should encourage local entrepreneurs.”

Minister Khashim Vashum further continued that the Tangkhuls should learn from those businessmen coming from outside and who are flourishing well in Ukhrul District. “Hand in hand, we should move ahead together with others and in tune with the fast changing world,” he said.

MLA Ram Muivah stated that “entrepreneurs all over the world are bringing changes in society. The sky is the limit.” He narrated the success story of Ambani’s and other great personalities who have set a benchmark in different fields of business and how they have shaped and influence the economy of their country. He longs for a successful businessman to emerge from the Tangkhul community.

Minsiter Khashim Vashum hoisted the flag and MLA Ram Muivah unveiled the memorial stone in the presence of HA. Khaiyaiwo, Headman Hunphun and AS. Wungngayung Peter, Headman Hungpung. Advisor to Tangkhul Leihsak Long, Antipus Hongchui dehoist the flag.

Special performances by Chungsangla Jajo, PC Angkang and Shonshon SP added more colours to the celebration.
