According to the villagers, following the reports of AR arrest, Namrei Shanao Long (Women Union), and Namrei villagers intervened. The village was also joined by Razai khunou and Marangphung Shanao Long.

Tensions ran high in the ensuing altercation between the AR personnel and Shanao Long. The AR captain allegedly slapped the women secretary, Ms Sothingla Shatsang of the women union which resulted in her slapping back, the villagers said.

The Shanao Long has categorically stated that the high handedness of the AR Captain for resorting to physical assault against the civilian women representative is condamnable. The Shanao Long has requested higher authorities to look into the matter.

The three Shanao Longs in a press release said, Assam Rifles will be held responsible in the event that any villagers will be affect by COVID-19 because of the incident, the women union warned. As of now Namrei, Razai khunou and Marangphung villages are all green zone.
