36 Assam Rifles Apprehend 5 United Kuki National Army Cadres in Churachandpur

Churachandpur, October 3: 36 Assam Rifles successfully launched an operation on October 2, 2025 in the general area of Songkot village under Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur, which led to the apprehension of five United Kuki National Army (UKNA) cadres along with the recovery of arms, ammunition and other war-like stores.

The apprehended five cadres, as per police, have been identified as Paolenlal Kipgen (30) s/o late Tongkam Kipgen of Boljol, Churachandpur, Kamgoulen (23) s/o late Seilun Kipgen of K. Phaijang, Churachandpur, Lhunkholen Singson (26) s/o late Mangkhopao Singson of Bolkot, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur, Thangzasuan (14) s/o Pauneilian Vaiphei of S. Bualkot, Churachandpur, Khaiginpau (37) s/o Lienzangul Vaiphei of S. Bualkot, Churachandpur.

The recoveries made during my the operation include one M79 Grenade Launcher with three bombs, Two 9mm Pistols with 5 rounds, Eight Radio Set with four sets of chargers, Eight pairs of jungle shoes, Three kgs. of Opium seeds, Three mobile handsets, said police.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 5(10)2025 HLP-PS u/s 20 UA(P) Act, 25(1-C) Arms Act and 6 IWT (Indian Wireless Telegraphy) Act for further investigation. The accused were produced before the Hon’ble Duty Magistrate and remanded into police custody, while the juvenile has been kept at an Observation Home. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway.
