In view of the prevailing situation, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), an apex Tangkhul organisation, issued a declaration of emergency. In its declaration, TNL stated that Tangkhul residences have been burned, firing continues in the area, and vehicles are being stopped for checking and frisking. It urged Tangkhuls to remain alert and exercise utmost caution.

Meanwhile, the Government of Manipur issued an order banning internet services in Ukhrul district for five days. The order stated that “anti-social elements might use social media extensively for transmission of images, posts and video messages inciting the passions of the public, which might lead to imminent danger to life and/or damage to public or private property, and widespread false rumours being circulated through social media, messaging services, mobile services, SMS and dongle services.”

Considering the urgent need for transportation, the Government of Manipur also arranged special helicopter services on the Imphal–Ukhrul–Imphal route. One sortie was operated on Tuesday, with two more sorties scheduled for Wednesday, in addition to the regular helicopter services.
