SENAPATI: Another 39 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Makui Thebram and Makui Pipuram, who were affected by the ongoing conflict, were safely evacuated and shifted to Senapati on Tuesday afternoon by the Senapati District Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The two villages have been severely affected by the prevailing conflict, with more than 40 residential houses reportedly burnt down in an arson attack following firing involving sophisticated weapons along the Imphal–Tamenglong Road in Kangpokpi District.
The 39 displaced persons comprised of 20 males, 13 females and 6 minors. Upon reaching Senapati, they were provided temporary accommodation and humanitarian assistance at the Emesiiphro Community Hall Relief Centre, established to shelter people displaced by the prevailing situation.
Of the 39 persons, 10 have taken shelter in the homes of their relatives, while the remaining 29 are currently sheltered at the Emesiiphro Relief Centre.
With this latest arrival, the total number of IDPs currently accommodated at the relief centre has reached 79. Altogether, 121 internally displaced persons have so far been shifted to Senapati, including those who have taken shelter with relatives and at other locations.
Ng. Chunthan, Spokesperson of the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati, conveyed the Organisation’s highest respect and sincere gratitude to the Senapati District Police and the CRPF for their timely intervention, safe evacuation of the affected civilians, and continued efforts towards ensuring their safety and security.

The NPO Spokesperson also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all organisations, churches, families and individuals for their generous support and contributions of relief materials, both in cash and in kind, towards the displaced families.
Ng. Chunthan further extended sincere gratitude to the people of Emesiiphro Village and Liangmai Taphou for their compassion, hospitality and continued support in providing shelter and assistance to the displaced families during this difficult period.
The NPO, along with the district civil society organisations stated to remain committed to extending necessary humanitarian assistance and support to the displaced families and to ensuring their welfare and well-being during this difficult period.
