3rd Federal Assembly of ALT-GHQ Held, Reaffirms Stand Against Scrapping of FMR, Border Fencing

Chandel, May 10: The 3rd Federal Assembly of the Anal Lenruwl Tangpi, General Headquarters (ALT-GHQ), was held on Saturday at Hnatham Community Hall in Hnatham Village, where the student body reaffirmed its support for the Indo-Naga peace talks. The assembly also reiterated its firm stand against the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the construction of border fencing.

Hosted by the Hnatham Youth Club, the assembly was attended by representatives of various youth and village clubs from the Anal community, including ANTA, Anal Sinnu Ruwl, former presidents, and community elders.

Among several key matters, the assembly reaffirmed its support for the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process and strongly opposed any move to abolish the FMR or build border fencing, citing adverse effects on the local population.

The House also reviewed and approved the resolutions adopted during the 2nd Federal Assembly. In addition, it deliberated on and resolved several agenda items, including amendments to the ALT constitution, renewal fees for clubs and members, and other organizational matters.

In line with the directive and resolution of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the ALT Assembly also resolved to adopt a policy of non-cooperation and non-collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces in any capacity.

The event began with the hoisting of the ALT flag, followed by a prayer and blessings by Rev. K.L. Sunny, Pastor of Hnatham Baptist Church. K.L. Vikram, President of the Hnatham Youth Club, delivered the welcome address.

In his presidential speech, Bd. Ningwar Anal urged the delegates to work collectively for the upliftment of the Anal community, especially its student population. “Every student body and leader has a responsibility to work for the welfare of the Anal people,” he emphasized. Kt. Zecharia, General Secretary of ALT, presented a report on the student body’s activities and achievements since the last assembly.

The assembly concluded on a high note, with the delegates resolving to work in unity for the betterment of the Anal community.

Rd. Alex, Speaker of Assembly Affairs, chaired the session, while St. Angningwar Anal, Secretary of Assembly Affairs, recorded the proceedings.
