Four-Day Naga Conclave-2 Organised by UNC Concludes in Senapati

Senapati, May 10: The four-day Naga Conclave-2, held under the theme “Critiquing Grand Narratives” and organized by the United Naga Council (UNC), concluded on Saturday at the Senapati district headquarters.

The event was attended by representatives from 20 Naga tribes, three subordinate bodies, and two associate groups. Various resource persons spoke on key issues currently confronting the Naga people, with engaging discussions held throughout the conclave.

Speaking to the media after the event, UNC President Ng. Lorho stated that the four-day conclave concluded meaningfully and successfully, with prominent activists and professionals from Nagaland and Manipur serving as moderators and panel chairs. A significant number of participants from diverse backgrounds—including politicians, scholars, lawyers, social and tribal leaders, students, women leaders, and human rights activists—took part in the discussions.

The UNC President noted that the conclave featured constructive and healthy deliberations over the four days, culminating in a series of recommendations on pressing issues affecting the Naga community. The gathering also reaffirmed its support for the Framework Agreement and called for an early resolution of the Naga political issue. Lorho added that other recommendations made during the final day of the conclave would be formally released after review by the UNC’s executive council.

The program was supported by the Naga Women’s Union and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur.
