SENAPATI: The 3rd Federal Assembly of the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) for the 2024–2026 tenure was held at the SM Sha Complex in Senapati on Wednesday, hosted by the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM).

The assembly commenced with the hoisting of the SDSA flag by Robin Kangba, speaker of the SDSA.

In his welcome address, J. Dalounii Angam, president of the PNTM, said it was a privilege and honour for the organisation to host the 3rd Federal Assembly of the SDSA for the 2024–2026 term.

He said the gathering was particularly significant as it was the last Federal Assembly of the current tenure.

“It is not merely another meeting; it is an opportunity for us to look back on the journey we have undertaken together, to reflect on our experiences and challenges and to discuss the responsibilities that lie ahead,” Angam said.

He acknowledged that the SDSA and its federating units had faced various challenges during the tenure and, at times, had different views and approaches. However, he said their common responsibility as student leaders remained to work for the welfare, unity and future of students and communities.

Angam urged the members to conduct the discussions with wisdom, maturity, mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation.

In his presidential address, A. Saloni Tony, president of the SDSA, expressed gratitude to senior student leaders, tribunals and members of his executive team for their cooperation and support throughout the tenure.

With the election for the new tenure approaching, Tony urged all federating units to use their wisdom in electing new executive members who would be willing to sacrifice and work for the cause of the student body.

The assembly speaker subsequently took attendance of the federating units and declared that the required quorum had been attained, following which the business session commenced.

The general secretary of SDSA, Washington Kho, presented the activity report of the Executive Council covering the period from April to September 2026.

Other agenda items, including a review of the previous assembly, the SDSA Election 2026 and miscellaneous matters, were taken up during the zero-hour discussion.

The assembly was attended by the SDSA executive team, members of the tribunals, former presidents of SDSA, presidents and executives of its federating units, including the Maram Students Union (MKS), Mao Students Union (MSU), Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Zeliangrong Students Union-Senapati (ZSU-S) and Thangal Students Union (TAJ), along with senior members and well-wishers.
