3rd Foundation Day of Noney District Working Journalists’ Union held

Ukhrul, Dec 5: The third Foundation Day of the Noney District Working Journalists’ Union (NoDWJU) was held today at Longmai Bazar, Noney District Headquarters.

The program was attended by Dinganglung Gangmei, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee, Manipur & MLA,54-Nungba (ST) A/C as the Chief Guest and Stody Dangmei, Social Worker and D.Kapuda, Chairman, Village Authority Council Longmai Area (VACLA) as the Guests of Honour respectively. The President and the General Secretary of Noney District Working Journalists’ Union, G Pouhoilung and Aqui Kamei also attended the program among several other notable personalities.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest thanked the media fraternity for their tireless services to society’s cause and nation-building. He also lauded them for working even in challenging times despite hardships and grievances including low income.

Assuring his maximum support to the Journalist Union’s welfare, he emphasized that the media is the fourth pillar of democracy and the nation’s forerunner. He also appealed to the young generation to choose journalism courses and work as journalists.

A one-minute silent prayer was held for the departed souls who had worked as journalists in the district.
