3rd Phantu Volleyball Tournament 2026 Begins

CHANDEL: The 3rd Phantu Volleyball Tournament 2026, Anal Inter Village level, began at the Lambung Primary School Ground in Chandel district, Manipur on Monday. Organised by the Lambung Youth and Cultural Club under the theme “Identify for Peace and Integrity”, about 40 teams are participating in the Men, Women and Veteran category.

In the first match of the day, Phunchung A defeated Libung A by 3 sets to one in the Men’s category. In other games of the Men’s category, Phiral Lonkhu B defeated Lambung B while Chakpikarong Youth Club defeated Lambung C.

In the Men’s Veteran category, Cheengkhu defeated Chandel Khubul while Tampi was given a walkover as the Hnatham veteran team failed to turn up.

The matches for the women’s category will begin on Tuesday evening.

Earlier, during the opening ceremony, Sng. Mohelas, ICP Moreh, Land Ports Authority of India attended as chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Mohelas congratulated the LYCC for organising the tournament and called on youth to take to sports professionally too. 

He said, the time has come when people are taking to sports as a profession. Moreover, it helps one to maintain discipline and health. He also called on all the teams to play fairly and with discipline.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Lh. Noah, chief of Lambung as functional president and Kl. Thuwngam, Honorary Subedar Major (Retired) as guest of honour.
