5 Arrested After Assam Man Dies in Dimapur Rehab

UKHRUL, NOV 28: Four individuals along with the owner of Yeshu Arms Wellness Foundation, Chekiye, Chümoukedima district in Dimapur have been arrested in relation to the death of Pradeep Basumatary (46), resident of Assam.

According to reports, on Wednesday (November 26) Diphupar Police Station received information from Referral Hospital in Dimapur regarding a dead body brought from the mentioned rehab centre. The doctor on duty confirmed that Basumatary was brought dead.

The preliminary examination revealed visible marks of physical assault including multiple bruises and injury marks on Basumatary’s body. The injuries were suspected to have been caused by a blunt object which is said to have been the cause of his death.

The body has been shifted to Dimapur District Hospital for post-mortem examination. A parallel inquiry on the rehabilitation centre’s operation has also been initiated.

Police will examine its licensing status, overall compliance with operational regulations, and the adequacy of in-house medical and mental health facilities.
