50 beneficiaries at Tousem Sub-Division receives Covishield jabs

COVID-19 vaccination drive was held at Tousem Sub-Division, Tamenglong District for people who cannot travel to to Tamenglong HQ for vaccination.

The vaccination drive was held on Monday at PHC Tousem which is located at the outskirt of Tamenglong District where people from different villages in Tousem area turned up for vaccination. It drive was organised under the sponsorship of Hon’ble Minister Awangbow Newmai, Tamenglong DC Armstrong Pame IAS and Tousem SDO Paul Nangsha.

During the drive, over 50 beneficiaries were given their first dose of Covishield. The vaccination process was carried out in the presence of Dr. Nathanael Daimei, MO Tousem PHC and medical team posted at Tousem Sub Division and Riamei Joseph, PA to Awangbow Newmai, Hon’ble Minister. Awareness on the importance of getting vaccination was also shared to the beneficiaries. Village elders from Thiulon, Saramba, Azuram and Namtiram were also among the beneficiaries who took their first dose of the vaccine.

Despite transportation and telecommunication problems faced, people expressed their happiness for coming all the way to provide the much needed Covid inoculation. Beneficiaries also shared their concern regarding the second dose as the road might worsen given monsoon season.

In response to their concern, MO advised the beneficiaries to take the mandatory second dose at the nearest centre available to them on due week of vaccination. Many elders in villages are yet to get their first dose.
