District surveillance officer reported 7 new Covid-19 positive cases in Ukhrul district on Saturday and in view of the impending threat in the area, Assistant Commissioner to District Magistrate had declared immediate containment measures in the area to prevent further spread of the disease.

In view of the new cases, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, AC to District Magistrate Ukhrul in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under para 12 of the “Manipur Epidemic Disease, Covid -19 Regulations, 2020” had declared the containment measures in the following geographical areas with immediate effect.

The areas under the lens of the measures are: Resident of Apam Lungleng, Khamasom Khullen village, Ukhrul; Shimnganing Marza, Harkuikathe tang, Ukhrul, and rented house of Suresh Prasad, Viewland Zone – 1 Ukhrul.

It had ordered for immediate sealing of the house/ compound, barred entry and exit of the population from the containment area, and had asked to initiate active surveillance of Covid – 19 cases.

Any person, institution and organisation found violating any of these measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the orders issued by Faiga further stated.

Meanwhil, a 65 year old from Talui Village, Ukhrul district residing at Malviya Nagar, Delhi succumbed to COVID on Saturday morning at Max Hospital, New Delhi, taking the total number of fatality from Ukhrul district in the capital at 2 in April month itself.
