75th Independence Day celebrated in Tamenglong

To pay tribute and remember all the freedom fighters who had contributed a lot and fought for the Independence of India, District Administration of Tamenlong today celebrates the 75th Indian Independence Day at Mini Stadium, Lower Ground, Tamenlong District Headquarter maintaining the strict SOP of Covid-19.

Armstrong Pame IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from Manipur Civil Police and 5th Manipur Rifles.

Speaking on the occasion as a chief guest of the program, Pame extend his heartfelt gratitude to the health department for their tireless effort in battling against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also thank the government of Manipur and especially Awongbow Newmai, Forest Minister for taking an initiative in posting specialist doctors in Tamenglong Hospital and for providing Two ambulances for the people of Tamei and Tousem subdivision. He also added that in the next 15 days or so Dailysis facilities will start functioning and all short of medical equipments will be set up in district hospital to take care of the health problems so as to avoid the public from traveling to the city for further medical treatment.

Today, as Manipur is considered to be one of the biggest factory of sports personalities in India, under the national development program of sports “Khelo India” Tamenglong has also been selected for Badminton category and once the inuaguration of the football ground is done by the chief minister of Manipur, indoor games like Karate and boxing will also be introduced in Tamenglong he added.

In order to solved the frequent power failure and shortage in Tamenglong district construction of 125kv line and sub station in Tamenglong is constructing in a war footing at the moment, Khongsang two lane road will also be finished before the next monsoon stated the chief guest of the program.

Armstrong Pame also assured the people of Tamenglong district that by this coming winter season the drinking water will be provided to every household sufficiently especially for the people of headquarter. He also stated that Tamei and Tousem connecting road will also be made motorable very soon by next winter season.

Credentials awards and appreciation certificate were also given out to government employee and institution of the district administration for strengthening and in developing the Tamenglong district.

Four years of BJP led government achievements magazine which is published by Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) were also Distributed to the people on this occasion.

This year the school’s children were exempted from the independence day celebration due to the prevailing conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The public, CSO, as well as various government departments staff of Tamenglong District attended the 75th Independence day with great spirit and enthusiasm.
